The Durham Biodiversity Data Service provided high quality, verified and current species and habitat data to ecological professionals.
The data provided was sourced from many different organisations and individuals with whom DBDS holds data sharing agreements, and from internally commissioned survey work and verified public survey data from work undertaken by the Durham Biodiversity Partnership.
DBDS had been established by the Durham Biodiversity Partnership to better protect biodiversity through the sharing of high quality biodiversity data, and on the basis of the principles established by the National Biodiversity Network (NBN).
The Service was based at Durham Wildlife Trust was managed by Trust staff on behalf of the Partnership. All data and data sharing agreements are held by the Durham Wildlife Trust.

DBDS, Durham Biodiversity Partnership and Durham Wildlife Trust would like to thank all those who have helped in making DBDS a success over the years.
We would like to say thank you to all the local recorders and volunteers who dedicated time to the service.
Recording groups and individuals in the Durham area who are currently sharing their wildlife records with DBDS have been consulted to ensure data management, procedures and existing standards are maintained following the transfer.
ERIC North East will be operating on a fully regional basis from the beginning of May, and we will try to notify everyone who has previously dealt with DBDS of the change over.
However, if you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact ERIC North East.
