As a registered charity, we depend on our Volunteer Task Force to help the Reserves Team implement all the practical conservation tasks necessary, to manage our 25 Nature Reserves effectively.

Practical tasks run 4 days per week and we also offer a rolling programme of Saturday and Sunday tasks.

We have a volunteer task force based at Rainton Meadows and at Low Barns Nature Reserve.

Tasks include: tree felling, scrub control, coppicing, brash burning, tree planting, footpath maintenance, boardwalk construction, meadow cutting/raking, pond clearance, reed planting and many more tasks.

If you want to :

  • Help protect your local environment in County Durham
  • Learn practical conservation skills
  • Meet new people
  • Gain valuable experience for your CV

then joining the Volunteer Taskforce could be for you!

We are looking for people who are:

  • Enthusiastic
  • Relatively fit
  • Team players
  • Genuinely interested in wildlife and nature conservation
  • And like to get their hands dirty!

We do not require a time commitment from you and you don't need to be a member of Durham Wildlife Trust to volunteer. No prior experience is neccesary as all training is given at the start of every task.

The next step......

Contact Sue Charlton on 0191 584 3112 or email scharlton@durhamwt.co.uk to arrange a time/date for an informal interview.
