A Growing Gift

Bishop's Oak, Baal Hill - Durham Wildlife Trust

Durham Wildlife Trust is offering the chance to give a gift that could last for centuries.

Plant an oak and it could grow as big and as old as the Bishop's Oak at Baal Hill Wood. The tree is one of the largest in the county and is believed to be at least 300 years old. The Trust is planting 100 new oak trees to make sure that Baal Hill is the home to mighty oaks for another 300 years, and now is your chance to help nurture the next Bishop's Oak.

With trees producing oxygen and absorbing carbon dioxide they are one of the best ways of combating climate change. Their longevity also makes them the perfect way to commemorate a special day such as a wedding or mark a new addition to the family.

Sponsor one of the 100 new oaks for £25 and help support Durham Wildlife Trust's work conserve the beautiful native woodland at Baal Hill for future generations to enjoy. A unique gift that will stand the test of time, each tree sponsor will receive a numbered certificate and information on the Baal Hill reserve. The number on the certificate corresponds to a number on the tree guard protecting the oak so you will be able to visit Baal Hill to see your very own oak tree.
